Age-appropriate financial education designed to build lasting skills and confidence.
Children develop financial understanding in stages. A seven-year-old grasping the concept of delayed gratification faces a different challenge than a teenager navigating student loan options. Our programmes are structured to meet learners where they are, building progressively on foundations laid in earlier stages.
Each programme combines direct instruction with hands-on activities, ensuring concepts move from abstract understanding to practical application.
Ages 7-10 | 4 weeks | Saturday mornings
The earliest years are crucial for forming attitudes toward money. Money Explorers introduces fundamental concepts through play-based learning, helping children understand where money comes from, why we cannot have everything we want, and how patience can lead to bigger rewards.
Ages 11-14 | 6 weeks | Wednesday evenings or Saturday afternoons
As children enter secondary school, their financial world expands. They may receive pocket money, gifts, or even earnings from odd jobs. Budget Builders teaches them to manage these resources thoughtfully while introducing concepts they will encounter as adults.
Ages 15-18 | 8 weeks | Tuesday evenings
With university, apprenticeships, or employment on the horizon, older teenagers need sophisticated financial knowledge. Future Investor covers the topics that will directly impact their adult lives, from understanding payslips to evaluating student loan options.
All ages | Full day workshop | Select Saturdays
Financial habits form within families. When parents and children learn together, they develop shared vocabulary and practices that reinforce lessons long after the workshop ends. Family Finance Day brings households together for an intensive, enjoyable day of collaborative learning.
Activities are designed so that every family member—regardless of age—can contribute meaningfully. Parents often report learning as much as their children, particularly about how to discuss money openly without anxiety or conflict.
Work together to manage a mock family budget, making collective decisions about spending priorities.
Learn techniques for discussing money at home without tension or avoidance.
Create a shared family savings goal with a realistic plan to achieve it.
Every family leaves with materials to continue the conversation at home.
Flexible delivery | Curriculum-aligned | All year groups
We work with primary and secondary schools across Edinburgh and the Lothians to deliver financial education that complements existing PSHE and citizenship curricula. Our school programmes can be delivered as standalone workshops, integrated units, or ongoing partnerships.
"Bringing primal-energize into our school transformed how students engage with financial topics. The interactive approach reaches pupils who typically switch off during traditional lessons."
